What this guide helps you do

  • The essential opening-cycle checklist
  • What the Song of Time keeps and resets
  • How masks and the Bomber’s Notebook organize later cycles

Treat the clock as a schedule, not a speedrun timer

The opening cycle teaches that Termina repeats. You are not expected to solve every Clock Town activity before the moon falls. Focus only on the chain that recovers the Ocarina of Time and returns Link to normal; conversations and side activities can wait for later cycles.

The clock advances while Link is in the world. Pause on subscreens when you need to read, and learn the four Clock Town districts so that returning to a location does not consume the final hours.

Complete the opening-cycle chain

Find the missing Stray Fairy in Clock Town and return it to the Great Fairy in North Clock Town. The restored Great Fairy gives Deku Link magic, allowing him to shoot bubbles. Use a bubble to pop the balloon blocking Jim’s Bomber challenge, complete the hide-and-seek game, and record the Bomber code.

Use the code to enter the passage to the Astral Observatory. Look through the telescope at Skull Kid, collect the Moon’s Tear that falls outside, and trade it to the Business Scrub in South Clock Town for access to the Deku Flower. Keep that route ready for midnight on the Final Day.

  • Write down the Bomber code; it is generated for the save file and remains useful after a reset.
  • Use the observatory scarecrow and town clock to check how much time remains.
  • Do not spend the Moon’s Tear before completing the South Clock Town trade.

Reach the Clock Tower at midnight on the Final Day

The upper Clock Tower opens at midnight when the carnival begins. Launch from the nearby Deku Flower, enter the tower, and confront Skull Kid. Hit him with a Deku bubble so he drops the Ocarina of Time, then pick it up.

The recovered memory teaches the Song of Time. Play it to return to the First Day. Back at dawn, visit the Happy Mask Salesman in the Clock Tower to learn the Song of Healing and regain Link’s normal form.

Understand what a reset changes

Playing the Song of Time rewinds the three-day world. Major quest items, masks, songs, Heart Containers, map knowledge, and Bomber’s Notebook records remain, while ordinary consumables and most world events reset. Deposit rupees at the Clock Town bank before rewinding if you want to preserve their value.

After the first reset, use the notebook and conversations as schedules. Start one clear objective early in a cycle, slow time when appropriate, and rewind after finishing that objective instead of trying to combine every quest into one run.
