In Yoshi's Story, you control a Yoshi and navigate through 2D platforming levels presented as pages in a storybook. Your main goal is to eat fruit, particularly the Super Happy Tree fruit, to complete each stage. You can use Yoshi's signature flutter jump to reach higher platforms and his tongue to eat enemies, which turn into eggs that can be thrown to hit other enemies or collectibles. The game features branching paths and encourages exploration to find the most fruit and uncover secrets. A key strategy is to maintain a high mood meter by eating fruit continuously, which allows Yoshi to perform better and access hidden areas. In the early stages, focus on learning the timing of enemy patterns and mastering egg-aiming. As you progress, the levels become more complex with puzzles and environmental hazards, requiring careful planning of your route to maximize fruit collection before time runs out.
