Your main goal is to help the inhabitants of Avalar by completing tasks and defeating enemies to collect talismans, which grant access to new homeworlds, and orbs, which are rewards for specific challenges. Moment-to-moment gameplay involves exploring colorful, open levels, using Spyro's signature abilities: a flame breath to torch enemies and a charge attack to break objects and defeat armored foes. You will also glide across gaps and use supercharge pads for high-speed sections. A useful beginner strategy is to thoroughly explore each level to find all gems, as they are essential for paying Moneybags to unlock new areas and abilities. The challenge rhythm involves a mix of combat, light puzzle-solving, and platforming sequences. Early in the game, focus on mastering the charge and flame attacks to clear enemies efficiently. In the middle of a run, pay close attention to NPCs who give you tasks; completing these earns you the orbs needed for progression. During tense moments, such as boss fights against Ripto's minions, learn their attack patterns and use your mobility to dodge before counterattacking.
