Sakura Wars is a hybrid tactical role-playing and dating sim game set in an alternate steampunk Taishō-era Tokyo, where players lead a theater troupe that doubles as a mecha combat unit to defend the city from demonic threats.

Your primary goal is to manage the Imperial Combat Revue's Flower Division, balancing character relationships during visual novel-style segments with tactical mecha battles. During adventure phases, you'll explore the theater, converse with heroines, and make dialogue choices that build Trust levels, which directly impact your combat performance. In battle, you control steam-powered robots on a grid-based map, using a real-time movement system where you must position units to attack enemies or support allies before a timer expires. Combat success relies on strong bonds, as high Trust unlocks powerful combination attacks. Early on, focus on evenly building relationships with all team members through careful dialogue to ensure a versatile squad. Mid-game, prioritize upgrading your Koubu mecha and mastering the timing of the Active Realtime Tactical System to outmaneuver foes. In tense moments, use special attacks and healing items strategically, and always protect weaker members to maintain your morale advantage.
