The core objective of WWF WrestleMania 2000 is to defeat your opponent in the ring by pinfall, submission, or count-out across various match types. Moment-to-moment play involves moving your wrestler around the ring, grappling with opponents by getting close and pressing the A button, and striking with the B button. Different directional inputs combined with the grapple or strike buttons perform a wide variety of moves. A key beginner strategy is to learn the grapple system: a weak grapple allows for quick moves to wear down an opponent, while a strong grapple (holding A longer) enables more powerful slams and slams. Your wrestler has a health meter that depletes as they take damage; when it turns red, they become vulnerable to pinfalls or submissions.
