In Gradius III, you control the Vic Viper spacecraft moving rightward through horizontally scrolling levels. Your primary objective is to survive each stage while destroying enemy ships and structures. You start with a basic pea shooter, but by collecting power capsules from destroyed orange carriers, you can build up your arsenal through the iconic power-up bar at the bottom of the screen. The bar cycles through options like Speed Up, Missile, Double Shot, Laser, Option (drones that mirror your shots), and Shield.
