Cadillacs and Dinosaurs Beginner Guide: Combat, Weapons, and Boss Survival

The four playable characters do not share identical speed, reach, and damage. Pick one and stay with that choice long enough to learn how far the basic attack reaches, how quickly the character recovers, and where the jump attack lands.

A beginner gains more from reliable spacing than from chasing a theoretical best character. Walk close enough to trigger a grab, test the throw direction, and learn which attack knocks a group down when enemies approach from both sides.

The most dangerous position is the center of a crowd. Move vertically to escape the current attack line, circle around the nearest enemy, and push the group toward one side of the screen before beginning a combo.

Throws are space-control tools. A thrown enemy can knock down others and create the pause needed to reposition. Jump attacks are also useful for entering safely, but repeating them without watching enemy anti-air attacks becomes predictable.

Firearms, melee weapons, explosives, and environmental objects can end a dangerous wave quickly. Preserve limited ammunition for dense groups or enemies that are difficult to approach safely. Do not abandon a good position just to collect a low-value item.

Food restores health, so delay picking it up when the screen is safe and your life bar is still high. In multiplayer, let the player with lower health take the recovery instead of racing for every item.

Bosses punish long, automatic attack strings. Enter at an angle, trigger an attack, move away, and watch where the recovery window appears. Land a short punish and leave before the boss regains control.

When ordinary enemies join a boss fight, clear enough space to preserve movement. Damage on the boss is not useful if a minor enemy traps the player during the next charge.
